In 2011, Fiona created Storie. She had worked as a journalist in France, the United Kingdom and the United States, and she wanted to leave the world of news. Around the same time, a pretty shop came up for rent just below her Paris apartment. It made her dream of a completely different life.
"Every object has a story. It seemed essential to me to bring forward the stories behind the products we buy, and to be more careful about what we buy. I thought that if we could help people truly appreciate a product, and understand its story, how it is made, with which materials, by whom and in what conditions, then they would cherish it. They would talk about it and share what they know of its heritage, and they would not be tempted to buy something mediocre that they would throw away later. I love the idea of giving someone a wooden spoon or a hand-woven textile that they can pass on to a future generation. 'Buy less, buy better.' I thought that if we sold good products, we could help change the way people buy. I think there is plenty of room for virtuous businesses."

Her family always traveled. She grew up on 3 different continents, with roots around the world. She is passionate about textiles and weaving in all its forms, and she is always looking for new textures and colors.
For Fiona, handmade matters more and more at a time when everything is homogenized. "There is something deeply comforting when we feel a human touch in an object." "In a world where we are more and more aware of the importance of sustainability, handmade products will be more and more appreciated. Sustainability is the key to the Storie selection."
Fiona believes that culture and art are at the heart of our society, "especially when times are hard. Being touched by the beauty of something created by another human being reminds us how creative and inspired we can be."
